Yes, there's a Hurricane/Tropical Storm about to hit Southern California
No, I don't do drugs. Yes, this is real.
Originally I come from the East Coast, so the first thing I did was load up on toilet paper, paper towels, 3 days worth of water, bread, peanut butter & jelly and made sure I had enough to read when the power went out.
I already had all the other necessities available, because basically the rest of the supplies are in my earthquake kit, which is what is normal here in Los Angeles.
We don't have tropical storms and hurricanes here in Southern California.
Last time we did was in the 1930s and it was pretty disastrous. Our land just isn't built for receiving that much water at once.
I may have to double check this, but someone told me that the reason the LA River, and other rivers, were paved was the result of that storm in the 1930s. Lots of research to do over the weekend on that one.
Hawaii last week.
Southern California Sunday and Monday.
I could post a million articles, put tons of links in Notes, but if you watch what's happening in Hawaii and California in real time, you'll understand that we can't predict Climate Change, and even the scientists are stumped.
We need to stop using fossil fuels right now.
Not yesterday, not last next year, now is when we need to stop.
Well at least we haven't run out of toilet paper just yet.
Good luck, Fellow Angelenos. Let's hope it misses us.
And after the intensity of the storm is diminished as Zeus has acted out most of his fury, some of the storm will continue easterly providing nourishment to the desert soils.
I only mention this because some MAGA type could stupidly argue that this shows an even balance out and no problem exists. Thus, we live in a world of false equivalency used to support one’s opinion.
